Excellent! This was the first book I read by Gilbert Morris and I absolutely loved it! It has just enough romance and adventure to make it great for all types of readers. It shows that if we trust in God and allow him to lead our lives, everything will turn out okay. I can't wait to read more!

The Golden Apples
Published in Paperback by Harvest Books (November, 1988)
Average review score:

Beautiful, Subtle, Resonating Stories"The Golden Apples" is one of the five best short story collections I've read. Welty's description of character, and its transformation throughout life (it's almost like an episodic novel) is subtle, humorous, and moving. Her style is poetic yet lucid, perfect for the emotionally complex situations she describes. The citizens of Morgana, Mississippi, with all their virtues, flaws and perversities, reminded me of Anderson's "Winesberg, Ohio." But Welty's eye seems defter, deeper, less given to easy pay-off and caricature. Similarly, she is superior to Flannary O'Connor because her tales deal with the nuances of everyday events rather than thunder-and-lightning epiphanies.
Dive into this swirling, invigorating pool and have your views of people and the world changed, as were mine.

The Golden Ashtray

The Golden Ashtray written by Joan BanksThis book was the most delightful book that I have read in a very long time. It kept me wanting to turn the page to find out what happened next. I enjoy all romances, and knowing that this one came from real life was especially captivating. I hope that you get a chance to read it. I believe that you will love it just as much as I did.
great twisted love story! This is a greatlove story, very well written. It is not your tyipcal love story following all the usual scenes. It is based on real people with a bit of imagination. I am not normally a big fan of love storys, but this one is a winner! I had to keep reading well into the night to find out what happened! Unlike most that I could guess right away. Joan Banks has done a excellent job with this book! I look forward to another novel from her.

The Golden Ass: Or Metamorphoses (Penguin Classics)
Published in Paperback by Penguin USA (Paper) (January, 1999)
Average review score:

Absolutely hilarious, a classicApuleius' great work is not read enough. As the story of an libertine who is unfortunately changed into an ass unfolds, we see a satire unfold that provides both entertainment and a biting commentary of life in the ancient Greco-Roman world. The book shows you the great distance between us moderns and the ancients, but what is likely to surprise you the most is precisely the opposite: those ways in which we are so similar.

Golden Book of Seville
Published in Paperback by Eiron, Inc. ()
Average review score:

the golden book of SevilleThis book is first rate. I recently took a photographic tour of Seville, the pictures in this book are far better than the best try at touring and taking pictures on your own. The introduction is well written as well. The other writings in the book are a good description of events and places. I would recommend this book to any one even thinking of going to Seville,it would be a great guide to let you know what is there so you would not miss any of the beauty and history of this lovely city.

The Golden Book of Springfield (Lost Utopias Series)
Published in Hardcover by Charles H Kerr Pub Co (November, 1999)
Average review score:

The High Priest of IllinoisThe Golden Book of Springfield is a super arcane, esoteric gem!! It should be required reading in every Illinois school. Lindsey attempts to do justice to his home state, be creating a futuristic Illinios filled with life and dignity. So unlike the Illinois of his time or anyone elses. Lindsey has a deep knowledge of the occult which is apparent to anyone who reads this book. The book is steeped in the occult tradition, filled with magic and mysticisim.Like ancient vibrations coming off his midwestern landscapes. Lindsey was the real deal! Artist, poet, seer! Its like an Illinois Book of the Dead. This book will leave the reader with a certain level of aboveness, for those hip/sensative enough to appreciate what Lindsey is saying.
The fact that this novel (Lindseys only) has just recently been available after almost 70 years just makes it even more special.
Unfourtunately I do not think I have even barely shown has special and unique this novel is. Its better the psychedelics!!

Need to reprint Van Loon's books for young scholars.Hendrik Van Loon's books should be in every school library. They are so beautifully written and open a window on the beginnings of music and art in a very interesting and easy to read style. His story of the early Dutch navigators is just as readable today as when it was first printed.
